💎 Subliminal Tipps & Tricks – Von Anfänger bis Experte
Lessons distilled from the community — beginners start with the first section; advanced players get mechanics the game never spells out.
🟢 Beginner Tips
The Figure uses a hesitation-detection system. Standing still for more than 8 seconds in any active zone increases encounter probability significantly. Keep moving, even if you are thinking — pace in a small circle rather than stopping completely.
Sensor panels require 2 seconds of continuous illumination before they lock open. Many players briefly flash the light and move on, only to find the door has closed again. Wait for the amber glow and the mechanical click sound before moving your light.
Several puzzles in Subliminal are solved not by pointing light AT something, but by positioning the light so that its SHADOW forms the right shape on a wall. Look for faintly etched outlines on walls — these are shadow target surfaces.
Multiple hidden elements — the floor hatch in The Basement, the hidden alcove in WaterWorks, the lore notes — are only accessible or visible from a crouched position. Make crouching a habit when entering new rooms.
Only fixtures with a visible hanging cord or wall bracket are interactive. Fixed emergency lighting, floor strip lights, and neon signs cannot be detached. If you cannot see a cord or bracket, do not waste time trying to interact with that light source.
Before attempting a puzzle, walk the entire room first. Identify all sensor panels, all interactive objects, and all potential light sources. Subliminal puzzles often require you to understand the full room layout before the solution becomes apparent.
🔴 Advanced
In WaterWorks, dual-sensor puzzles require two simultaneous light sources. Place Light 1 on the floor aimed at its target panel FIRST, then carry Light 2 to the second panel. If you try to hold both, you will find you can only carry one — place the first before retrieving the second.
TV portals in Childhood Memories require 3 seconds of continuous centered illumination. Count silently: one-thousand-one, one-thousand-two, one-thousand-three. Any movement resets the counter. Stand completely still and aim before starting the count.
The Figure in Childhood Memories mirrors your movement — it advances when you face it. To pass through doors in its presence, turn your back to it and walk backward through the doorframe. This feels counterintuitive but is the only method that works.
Place your light source on the floor directly behind your character — do not carry it. Your shadow will project forward as a safe walking path. The rule is absolute: only walk where your shadow falls. Doorknobs outside your shadow footprint cannot be reached without stepping off the path.
In Fragment 1 (birthday room), the cake has 7 candles. The sensor accepts exactly 5 lit candles. Position your light source at the exact height of the cake surface. Then rotate your position around the cake until exactly 2 candles fall in shadow. The sensor activates when the count reaches 5.
Take Ending 1 (faster route). Optimal: Basement 5 min (no secrets), WaterWorks 13 min (direct to pump room → locker exit), total ~18 min. The sensor panel in WaterWorks is the most time-variable element — practice the dual-sensor setup before attempting a speed run.
👤 Entity Quick Reference
| Situation | What To Do |
|---|---|
| You hear breathing nearby | Do not stop to look around — keep moving toward the next puzzle objective |
| You have been standing still | Start moving immediately in any direction — forward is best |
| You have failed a puzzle 3+ times | Leave the room briefly, re-enter — this can reset entity aggression state |
| The Figure is blocking a doorway | In most chapters: find alternate route. In Childhood Memories: turn back to Figure, walk backward through door |
| Light fell in WaterWorks pool | Proceed to maintenance room for replacement fixture — do not panic |
| TV portal is not activating | Confirm you are within 2m of screen, light aimed at center, and you are completely still for 3 full seconds |
